Float Shoe And Float Collar
1. Application
Floating collar and floating shoe are mainly used to guide the casing string into the well smoothly, adjust the buoyancy of the casing string when lowering the casing, and the back pressure valve prevents the cement slurry from flowing back into the casing. The height of the cement plug in the casing is accurately controlled during cementing to ensure the quality of cementing. Floating collar and floating shoe are generally used as a set. The floating shoe is at the bottom of the casing. There are 1-2 casings between the floating collar and the floating shoe. The floating collar can be pressed by the rubber plug.
2. Structural composition
The structure of the floating collar (Figure 1) is basically the same as that of the floating shoe, except that its lower end is a male buckle connected to the casing. The floating shoe (Figure 2) is made of alloy structural steel, the upper end is connected to the casing, and the lower end is a hemispherical cement or metal head to guide the lowering of the casing. A back pressure valve is installed inside it, which can be drilled with a PDC drill bit. The upper and lower channels of the valve are open when leaving the factory. When the casing is initially placed, the liquid in the well has no resistance to the floating shoe. The pressure of the circulating mud pushes the valve head downward by a displacement, and the three flaps at the end of the valve stem fall off automatically. After the pump is stopped, the valve presses the valve seat upward under the action of the spring, playing the role of a one-way valve. At this time, drilling fluid or cement slurry can be pumped in from top to bottom, but the liquid in the casing under the valve or in the annular space outside the casing cannot return.
